NVIDIA GeForce RTX 60-series reportedly slips to 2028

The RTX 60-series release date has reportedly slipped again. Leaker kopite7kimi, who has a strong track record on NVIDIA hardware, now says NVIDIA’s Rubin-based GeForce lineup is a 2028 product rather than the second half of 2027, the window they had floated previously.

The RTX 60-series release date keeps moving

“Unfortunately, GR20x is a product from 2028. That means they have postponed again,” kopite7kimi posted on X. GR20x is the internal designation attached to the next-generation GeForce silicon, built on the Rubin architecture as the successor to the current Blackwell-based RTX 50-series. NVIDIA hasn’t confirmed anything about RTX 60-series timing, so the date should be read as a leak rather than a roadmap.

The shift matters because it’s the second one on record from the same leaker. A few months ago the estimate was second-half 2027; now it’s a full calendar year later. For anyone running current RTX 50-series hardware, the practical read is straightforward: the wait for a true successor just got longer, and the existing lineup stays at the top of NVIDIA’s stack well past when it looked like it would be replaced.

Two leakers against one

The 2028 estimate isn’t an isolated claim. Kepler_L2, another prominent leaker, said the same thing a few days earlier: that gaming Rubin GPUs won’t arrive before 2028. That puts two independent sources pointing at the same year.

It runs against Moore’s Law Is Dead, who said about a week before kopite7kimi’s post that an NVIDIA source had told them gaming Rubin was greenlit for the first half of 2027. Two leakers against one doesn’t settle anything on its own, and roadmaps like this one can still change before 2028 arrives. But the direction is worth noting: the GPU memory supply situation is volatile enough right now that manufacturers’ plans are reportedly shifting on a near-weekly basis, and a later, more cautious date fits that environment more comfortably than an aggressive 2027 push would have.

What to watch next

  • Whether Moore’s Law Is Dead’s NVIDIA source revises its own timeline now that two other leakers disagree.
  • Any official word from NVIDIA on Rubin gaming silicon, which so far has been silent.
  • Further roadmap shifts tied to memory supply, the variable every leaker keeps pointing to as the reason these dates keep moving.
