Framework has confirmed the Framework Desktop pre-order date for its Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 model: Wednesday, 30 September, in the morning Pacific Time. The company posted the news on its official X account. Pricing has not been announced, and neither has the mechanics of the ordering queue, though Framework’s past launches have sold through their first batches within hours.
What’s new in the Framework Desktop pre-order
The new board carries AMD’s Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495, the Gorgon Halo processor Framework had already been teasing, paired with LPDDR5X-8533 unified memory that tops out at 192GB. That is up from the 128GB ceiling on the existing Ryzen AI Max+ 395 model, a 50 percent jump in top-end capacity, by teqpost’s arithmetic. TechPowerUp reports that the rest of the motherboard and case carry over unchanged, the same backward-compatibility approach Framework already uses for its laptop upgrades.
That reuse is the point: buy the new mainboard and drop it into the case you already own, rather than replacing the whole machine. It also means Framework is not chasing a new form factor here, just a memory ceiling. No pricing has surfaced for the 192GB board, but it is a safe bet it costs more than the 395 model, particularly at the top end where the memory gap is largest.
The third Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 machine this month
This is at least the third Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 machine we have covered in as many weeks. On 13 September, Minisforum turned the same chip into a 200TB NAS. On 5 September, Acemagic crammed it into its two-litre F9A, first with a specs leak and then a full workstation launch the same day.
The chip keeps turning up elsewhere too. Beelink’s GTR9 Pro pairs it with 128GB of DDR5-8533 and a 2TB drive at CNY 29,998, about $4,477. FEVM’s FAEX2 mini-PC matches Framework’s 192GB ceiling while adding 10 GbE Ethernet, USB4 and OCuLink for an external GPU, in a CNC aluminium chassis. Framework’s pitch has never been the highest spec sheet; it is the socketed, upgradeable board in a case buyers already own.
What to watch: Framework has given a date but no numbers. The 395 model’s launch pricing is the only benchmark available until 30 September, when the pre-order page should confirm both the cost of the 192GB board and whether it ships as a standalone upgrade for existing Desktop owners.
