Samsung has started rolling out the stable One UI 9 update, based on Android 17, to the Galaxy S26, S26+ and S26 Ultra. The release caps a beta programme that began in May and ran through seven builds, one of Samsung’s quicker turnarounds from first beta to stable in recent One UI generations. Samsung confirmed the rollout on its newsroom site, and the update is live first in South Korea, with other markets scheduled to follow over the coming weeks. It replaces One UI 8 as Samsung’s current software baseline for the S26 line.
What’s new in One UI 9
The headline addition is My FanCam, a Now Brief feature that launched on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Flip 8 before reaching the S26 series with this release. Now Brief also gains generative-AI card creation, letting owners generate and edit their own briefing cards instead of picking from Samsung’s fixed set. Samsung has reworked Now Nudge, its proactive-suggestion tool, and the update ships with new privacy controls that let owners manage what each of those tools can access. The effect is that features which debuted on Samsung’s foldables earlier this year are now standard across the mainstream S-series, bringing the Galaxy S26 range to feature parity with Samsung’s current foldables for the first time this generation.
When you’ll get the One UI 9 update
The stable build reached Galaxy S26 units in South Korea first, arriving as an over-the-air download rather than a full reinstall; word of the rollout first surfaced via a tipster’s post on X before Samsung’s own newsroom post confirmed it. The build numbers are S948NKSU4BZI6, S948NOKR4BZI6 and S948NKSU4BZHO. AndroidAuthority reports that Canadian S26 owners will start receiving the update on 21 September, while Samsung has not yet confirmed a release date for the US.
Regional staggering like this is standard for Samsung: unlocked units clear faster because they skip carrier certification, which is one reason Korea, as Samsung’s home market, and Canada get the update first while US carriers still have to sign off. Given how quickly Samsung pushed this cycle from beta to stable, a wider rollout should follow within weeks rather than the months-long gaps seen on past One UI releases.
Certified Re-Newed units inherit the update
We covered on 16 September that Samsung had added the Galaxy S26 to its Certified Re-Newed refurbished lineup, sold at a discount off the original launch price. Certified Re-Newed units ship on the same firmware channel as new retail phones, which matters here: buyers who picked one up this week should see the One UI 9 update land on the same schedule as anyone who bought an S26 new, rather than being stuck on an older build while retail units move ahead.
What to watch: Samsung has not set a release date for the US, so American Galaxy S26 owners are still waiting on a confirmed schedule even as Korea and Canada get the update first. Wider European and Asian availability should become clear once Samsung updates its own rollout tracker in the coming days.
