Samsung has released the sixth One UI 9 beta for the Galaxy S26 series, an 851MB update running firmware build ZZHE. The build carries the August 5, 2026 security patch and is live now in Germany, India, Poland, the UK and South Korea, with a US rollout expected shortly. Testers already enrolled in the Galaxy S26 beta programme through the Samsung Members app should see the update arrive automatically; anyone not yet enrolled needs to join before the update appears.
What the One UI 9 beta 6 update fixes
Beta 6 clears two specific bugs that survived beta 5:
- Display errors affecting the Now Brief widget on the home screen
- A photo-saving fault in Expert RAW mode at 24MP, which failed at certain focal lengths
Both are narrow, reproducible bugs rather than headline features, but they matter for different reasons. Now Brief is Samsung’s AI-driven daily briefing widget, so a display error there breaks something visible on the home screen every time the phone is unlocked. For anyone shooting in Expert RAW for the extra editing latitude a DNG file offers, a save failure at specific focal lengths undermines the entire reason to use the mode over the standard camera app. Samsung has not published a broader changelog beyond the security patch and these two fixes, typical for a build this deep into a beta cycle.
Why the Galaxy S26 series is still on beta software
The more interesting question is why. One UI 9 is not new software in the abstract: Samsung already shipped its stable release alongside the new Galaxy Z8 foldables, and by AndroidAuthority’s account the company entered One UI 9 development with considerable ambition for the update. Despite that, the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung’s other current flagship line, is six beta builds deep with no stable date announced. That gap between a stable release already shipping on one device family and a sixth beta build on another is unusual for Samsung, which typically keeps its flagship phones in step.
Samsung’s beta calendar is busy elsewhere too. The company has also begun testing a Wear OS 7-based One UI 9 Watch beta on the Galaxy Watch 8 and Watch 8 Classic, currently running in South Korea ahead of a wider stable rollout expected later this year. That beta brings a revamped watch face and UI design, richer customisation options, new safety tools, and expanded Samsung Health tracking for aerobic load and sleep vitals. Between a phone beta, a watch beta and a stable One UI 9 release already out on Samsung’s foldables, the software is currently sitting at three different stages of rollout across the company’s own product line at once.
What to watch next
Two dates matter here. Samsung is holding a launch event on 27 August that leaks point squarely at the Galaxy S26 FE launch date, which teqpost covered when Samsung first set that date amid a run of pre-launch leaks. Separately, beta 6’s arrival in the US, still pending as of this release, is usually the last regional rollout before Samsung locks a build for stable release, so its timing is the clearest signal yet of when the S26 series might finally leave beta behind.
