The Xbox Series X25 price and release date have leaked, weeks before Microsoft was expected to confirm both at Gamescom 2026. The console was unveiled at June’s Xbox Games Showcase to mark the brand’s 25th anniversary: a translucent green Series X paired with a matching wireless controller, both stamped with exclusive “Xbox 25” branding. The see-through shell is the point, letting owners look at the internal components rather than hiding them behind opaque plastic.
Microsoft had not confirmed a price or a firm release date for the console beyond a vague “later this year” window, which is why the new leak matters: it puts hard numbers on a product Microsoft itself hasn’t fully priced in public yet.
Xbox Series X25 price and Black Friday launch
According to Dealabs Magazine, the Xbox Series X25 price is set at €899.99 in Europe, which is €100 more than a standard 1 TB Xbox Series X. In the United States, the console is expected to cost around $899, before sales tax. Guru3D reports the launch date as 27 November 2026, which is Black Friday and sits inside the “November 2026” window Microsoft gave when the console was first shown in June.
It’s worth noting that TechPowerUp and Guru3D both trace these figures back to the same source, Dealabs Magazine, rather than independent confirmation. That doesn’t make the numbers wrong, but it means Microsoft hasn’t corroborated any of it yet, and the final retail price could still shift before November.
Eurogamer frames that European price as roughly on par with what Sony charges for a PS5 Pro, which gives a sense of how far outside normal Series X pricing this anniversary edition sits. Specification-wise, nothing changes underneath the shell: it’s reportedly the same hardware as the standard Xbox Series X, with the difference limited to the console’s exterior, the controller and some exclusive dashboard artwork built around the anniversary theme.
Same drive, higher price
The regular Xbox Series X ships with a 1 TB SSD, and by all accounts so does the X25. By our arithmetic, that €100/$100 premium works out to roughly €100 or $100 per terabyte of storage the buyer doesn’t actually gain: the extra cost goes entirely on the transparent shell, the matching controller and the new dashboard art, not on more capacity or a faster drive. Anyone considering the X25 as a storage upgrade rather than a collector’s piece is paying a straightforward cosmetics tax.
That distinction matters more here than usual, because Microsoft has leaned on scarcity messaging for the X25 since its reveal in June. A limited run that costs the same to build as a standard console, but sells for a hundred dollars or euros more, only works commercially if buyers are shopping for the anniversary design rather than the performance. Nothing in the leaked pricing suggests they’re getting anything beyond that.
What to watch
Microsoft is expected to confirm the Xbox Series X25’s official price, release date and full specification sheet at Gamescom 2026. That announcement should also settle whether the console is genuinely produced in limited numbers or simply marketed that way, and whether the $899 US price holds once tax and any bundle options are factored in.
