Jackery has confirmed the global rollout of the FridgeGuard Slim, a fridge backup battery built to keep a refrigerator running through a power cut, at IFA Berlin 2026.

What the fridge backup battery does

The FridgeGuard Slim is a UPS aimed squarely at the kitchen rather than the whole house. Jackery says the base unit keeps a fridge running for up to 15 hours on a single charge, with a nominal output of 800W and a peak of 1,600W. That gap between nominal and peak output matters for a fridge specifically, since a compressor draws a much larger surge of current the moment it kicks in than it does while idling; a UPS sized only for the running load would trip the instant the compressor started.

At 67mm thick, Jackery calls it the world’s thinnest smart fridge backup, positioned to sit flush against a fridge or under a counter rather than take up floor space. Like the rest of Jackery’s Explorer range, it does not rely on a single fixed battery pack: it uses a stacking system, so the base unit can be paired with an expansion module as needs grow. TechPowerUp reports that Jackery also pitches the unit as backup for the whole kitchen, good for 18 pots of coffee and 17 breakfasts toasted, not just for keeping the fridge cold.

Kitchen appliances are an awkward fit for most portable power stations, which are built to be carried and stowed away rather than left permanently plugged in beside a fridge. A slim, wall-hugging form factor is aimed squarely at that problem: something that stays connected day to day and only starts working once the mains cuts out, without turning the kitchen into a work site.

Jackery unveiled the FridgeGuard Slim alongside its Explorer 2000Plus v2 at the same Berlin show, signalling that home battery backup, not just portable power for camping and outdoor use, is now core to its IFA lineup.

How the fridge backup battery scales

The base FridgeGuard Slim ships with 1,024Wh of capacity. Adding the stackable expansion module takes that to 2,048Wh, and by our arithmetic that is exactly double, not a partial top-up. For a UPS sold on keeping a fridge alive during a blackout, that clean doubling is the more useful number than either watt-hour figure alone: buyers choosing the expanded unit are paying for roughly double the runtime, not a marginal capacity bump wrapped in a higher price. It also lets Jackery quote one 15-hour runtime figure for the base configuration and leave the expanded one to scale linearly from there.

Pricing and what to watch

Jackery has set US pricing for the FridgeGuard Slim at $799 for the base configuration, though it has not yet announced international pricing or confirmed the cost of the expansion module on its own. Given the unit was only just confirmed for global release at IFA Berlin, the immediate thing to watch is whether that international pricing lands close to the US figure once currency conversion and regional taxes are factored in, and whether the expansion module is sold as a bundle or purely as an optional add-on.
