Google Health 5.07 is rolling out on Android and iOS with a more capable manual workout logging tool, sharper maps, an updated weight tracking graph and a fix for a Health Connect bug that had been dropping some users’ sync. The build follows version 5.06 by only a few weeks and continues the run of fast, feedback-driven patches Google has shipped since the Fitbit app was replaced by Google Health in May.
That relaunch drew complaints for burying data behind long paragraphs of text and for launching without nutrition or cycle tracking. Google acknowledged the criticism in a support post titled We listened to your feedback and has been shipping incremental fixes since, including 5.06’s option to hide the Health Coach’s verbose guidance from the Today tab.
Manual logging, maps and weight tracking in Google Health 5.07
The bulk of this release is aimed at people who log workouts by hand rather than relying on a wearable. Manual workout entry is more capable, running-distance tracking is more accurate on trail and incline runs, and the maps shown during workout tracking are sharper. The weight tracking graph also gets a visual tweak, making major and long-term changes easier to spot at a glance rather than having to scan a flat line of data points.
- Manual workout logging updated with more detail captured per entry
- Maps sharpened for tracked activities
- Running-distance tracking improved for trail and incline routes
- Weight tracking graph redesigned to surface long-term trends
Health Connect gets a stability fix
Health Connect, Android’s on-device hub for syncing health and fitness data between apps, gets a targeted fix in this release. According to AndroidAuthority, some Android users had seen their connection between Health Connect and Google Health unexpectedly disappear; 5.07 resolves that, which should stop third-party apps that pull data through Health Connect from silently losing their link to Google Health.
Google published the full list of changes as a support-site changelog rather than a press release. teqpost checked Google’s own release notes for 5.07, which confirm the manual logging, maps, weight tracking and Health Connect changes described above. The app itself is still listed under its old name on the Play Store page, a holdover from the Fitbit-to-Google Health transition in May that has yet to be cleaned up.
What to watch
Google Health 5.07 is rolling out in stages and is expected to reach all Android and iOS users over the next week. Nutrition and cycle tracking, both missing at May’s relaunch, are still absent from this release; whether either arrives in a future point update remains open.
