Galaxy S27 Pro tipped to get Samsung’s Privacy Display too

Samsung’s next flagship line will reportedly spread Privacy Display beyond the Ultra tier. Industry sources say the Galaxy S27 Pro will carry the same anti-peeking panel as the Galaxy S27 Ultra, ending Privacy Display’s run as an Ultra-exclusive feature. The Galaxy S27 privacy display change would reach two of what are expected to be four models in the range, with the base Galaxy S27 and the Galaxy S27 Plus left without it.

How the Galaxy S27 privacy display split would work

Samsung’s S27 lineup is expected to keep a four-way structure: Galaxy S27, Galaxy S27 Plus, Galaxy S27 Pro and Galaxy S27 Ultra. The Pro sits between the Plus and the Ultra, and has already been tipped to inherit several Ultra features without the Ultra’s price tag. Privacy Display was one of the specs Samsung had kept exclusive to the Ultra, and the latest reports say that exclusivity is ending, at least for the Pro. Notebookcheck’s report is explicit that the base Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus still miss out, so the split doesn’t disappear, it just moves: instead of Ultra versus everything else, it becomes Ultra and Pro against the base pair.

For buyers, the practical effect would be a real reason to pick the Pro over the Plus. Until now, anyone who wanted a step up from the base model without paying Ultra prices had few features that weren’t already shared with the Plus. A Pro-exclusive Privacy Display, on top of whatever other Ultra specs it inherits, gives the Pro a distinct selling point instead of leaving it as a slightly better-specced Plus.

Feature differentiation like this is how Samsung protects the Ultra’s margin while still making the Pro look like an upgrade over the Plus. Spreading Privacy Display to a second tier costs Samsung little once the panel exists, but it only works if the base and Plus still feel like a step down, which is why the report is as much about what those two miss as about what the Pro gains.

What’s confirmed and what’s still a rumour

None of this comes from Samsung. Both reports trace back to industry sources rather than a spec sheet, and Notebookcheck frames its account as a reiteration of an earlier claim rather than a fresh leak, meaning the Pro’s Privacy Display has now surfaced more than once without an official confirmation attached. That repetition makes the rumour more durable than a single unsourced leak, though it still isn’t the same as Samsung confirming it on stage.

The two reports agree on the substance but differ in emphasis. 9to5Google frames the story around the Pro joining the Ultra, a positive-sounding expansion of the feature. Notebookcheck leads with which models get left out, a framing that puts the base Galaxy S27 and Galaxy S27 Plus buyers on notice instead. Read together, they describe the same tier split from opposite ends, and neither contradicts the other on which models are actually affected.

What to watch

Samsung is expected to unveil the Galaxy S27 series in early 2027. Until an official unveiling, the Pro’s Privacy Display stays a reported feature rather than a confirmed one. A launch event that far out leaves plenty of room for the lineup, and the feature list, to change again before phones ship. Watch for Samsung’s own marketing or regulatory filings to either name Privacy Display on the Pro or stay silent on it as the launch approaches.
